A donor advised fund at Jewish Communal Fund simplifies your life — you’ll no longer have to track charitable tax receipts and you’ll be able to recommend grants to the IRS-qualified charities of your choice using our easy and secure website. In joining our community of Jewish philanthropists, you can expect to enjoy the following benefits that set JCF apart from other donor advised funds:
Personal Attention: JCF provides responsive, personalized service that makes it easy for you to pursue your philanthropic objectives. JCF staff members can be reached by phone Monday through Friday to answer your questions and personally assist you with your fund.
Flexibility and Maximum Tax Deduction: JCF is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity. Consequently, you are entitled to receive the maximum tax deduction allowed by law when you establish a JCF fund. You receive a tax deduction when you make a contribution to JCF and can make decisions about which charities to support at a later date.
No receipts: You no longer need to track receipts from multiple charities.
Ease of Use: Fund holders can check fund balance and contribution history and recommend grants easily online, at their convenience.
Lifecycle Funds: JCF offers lifecycle funds to help you celebrate a special occasion by giving the gift of tzedakah. Establish a charitable fund and invite family and friends to make tax-deductible contributions to the fund. Your loved ones now have an easy way to support their favorite IRS-qualified public charities for years to come.
Prompt processing of grants: Many grants are processed and mailed to charities in 1 to 3 business days.
Educational Resources: JCF offers a wide array of seminars, pamphlets, and online resources to help our donors be more strategic and have greater impact with their philanthropy.
Double your impact: When you establish a fund at Jewish Communal Fund, you maximize your philanthropic reach and support for the Jewish community. Each year the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Communal Fund makes a Community Gift from revenues and fees to support programs and institutions that promote the welfare and security of the Jewish community at home and abroad.
Our Community Gift has two components: a $2 million donation to the Annual Campaign of UJA-Federation of New York and grants from the JCF Special Gifts Fund. Since 1999, more than $9 million has been awarded from the Special Gifts Fund to over a dozen worthy causes selected with the assistance of UJA-Federation of NY. Recent grants include:
- JCRC to support the 2012 Celebrate Israel Parade
- Surprise Lake Camp to support the renovation of its main building
- NY Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG) to support its Mobile Justice Initiative
- Educational Alliance to support a capital project
- The Hebrew Educational Society
